This summer flew by! I hope you and your family had a very restful and fun summer. I know my family stayed busy this summer. It was a great time to reconnect with family and friends. I was able to to spend some time with my grandchildren and we enjoyed going to the pool and to the beach! We had family cookouts and late summer nights enjoying our time with each other. I was also able to go to a FFA State Convention with daughter and I also attended a few Professional Development Seminars this summer. All in all, it was a great summer. And now I ready for an awesome year with new students in Fifth Grade.
Here we are in the middle of March! Spring Break will be here shortly. and when we return we will be getting ready for FSA! We have been working hard all year to prepare and learn new all the new standards! Please pay attention to the website dates and the calls coming home to help you keep track of the testing dates. We really need our students well-rested. An most of all, we need them here and on time. Hard to believe it that time of year already. Before you know it, it will be time for Fifth Graduation and Summer! Things get busy this time of year. Please check back here on the website and of course check those weekly red folders and agendas for important information.
Wow I can't believe we are already midway through the first quarter! We've been busy getting settled into our schedules and getting to know each other. I am so blessed to have such a great group of 5th graders. I know it is going be an awesome year. We have incorporated LLI into reading block and kids seem to love it. Can't wait to see their amazing results. I know they will shine! We are very excited about our field trip to the Symphony at Van Wezel in October. This always such a good field trip and the students always enjoy it. The quarter ends in October and remember, we will be holding parent conferences to hand those first report cards. I will send home a sign up sheet for conference times. You will be meeting with your child's homeroom teacher but if you wish to meet with their afternoon teacher you can also set up time to do that as well. I will update you as the close of quarter draws nearer. We have a lot work to do before report card time. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you have otherwise I will look forward to seeing you at conference time.
A quick look at our room! Open House was a great success. It was such fun to meet my new students and their families. I am so excited for this year, I have great bunch of students in both my homeroom and afternoon classes. We are learning our new schedules and routines. The students are certainly enjoying their daily recess which is new to us this year. We are taking our iReady diagnostic tests and have broken in our new laptops. They are AWESOME! Also new to my classroom is our daily Message Board. The students have loved coming in and seeing what the new daily message is and responding to it! Such a cool idea. It is a great way to start our day. We it has been an exciting first 5 days and I am looking forward to the rest of our year.
Well summer vacation is about halfway over. Can you believe it? I hope you all had a fun Fourth of July weekend. My holiday weekend was filled family, friends, food, boating, and fireworks! I have been doing some more planning for the new school year. I have some fun activities planned for the first week of school. Fifth grade will be your final year of elementary and we are going to make it your best year. Enjoy the next few weeks and REMEMBER to read, read, read!
Well the dog days of summer are here! It is hot! I been spending time at the pool and on the boat to cool off. I also made a few trips to library. I hope my new and old students are reading too. I have also been working on a few top secret classroom projects. :) I hope my students will like them. Our school theme this year is "Wild About Learning" Remember there is a class supply list here. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. See you soon.
Yesterday we practiced for our moving on ceremony. That is when it really sinks in and you realize these students are leaving Prine not just going on to the next grade. They will be going in different directions, making new friends, and expanding their learning adventures. I loved my little classroom family and will miss everyone of them! So tomorrow we will leave behind grade school and leap into middle school. The very best of luck to all of my students. I know you all will be awesome.
*Moving On Ceremony @ 8:45 (promptly) Remember you students may leave with you after the ceremony for the day. Just sign them out up front. Whew! I can't believe this school year is almost over. It has just flown by. I so enjoyed both my homeroom students and my afternoon students this year. We have worked hard to master the standards and improve our reading & writing skills. Social Studies has been a trip back in time to the birth of our nation.
We have a few events coming up to end the year with bang! June 1st is our Field Trip to McKechnie Field to see a Maraunders game & lunch. June 8th is our Moving On Ceremony. And we have field day coming up! And remember June 9th is the last day school for this year. And June 7-9 are all early release days. There is still a lot to do! |
